Jeunesse: Young People, Texts, Cultures
Our press, including thirty-seven of our titles, was reviewed in Issue 2.1 of Jeunesse: Young People, Texts, Cultures in an article titled, "Simply Read: An Innovative Press," by Carole Scott, Professor Emeritus of English and former Dean of Undergraduate Studies at San Diego State University.
The reviews include Saffy by Paola Opal, The Day it All Blew Away and Paulina P. (for Petersen) by Lisa Cinar, Picturescape by Elisa Gutierrez, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll and illustrated by Iassen Ghiuselev, and 22 more!
This academic, peer-reviewed journal was formerly called CCL/LCJ: Canadian Children's Literature/Litterature canadienne pour la jeunesse) and began in 1975 at the University of Guelph and in 2005 the journal moved to the University of Winnipeg. You can learn more about it and buy copies here. It is available at libraries too!
Check it out especially if you want to get a sense of our publishing program for the past few year! The article does a very good job!

Big Backyard Book Club
Over at TVO Kids, the featured book for their program Gisele's Big Backyard Book Club is our very own Ella's Umbrellas, by Jennifer Lloyd and illustrated by Ashley Spires.
What a cute program! There is a storytime video and when you are done watching you can answer questions about the characters in the book to complete the Big Backyard Book Club activity. Then you get a special colouring page!

Up-lifting
All those who are inspired by stories for kids -- both books and movies -- and bring them to life is amazing. Such as this couple that decided to theme their engagement shoot around the Pixar movie 'Up'.
You can find out more about this photo shoot at Wildflowers Photography. What other kids books and kids movies have inspired engagement shoots and weddings? Which book or movie would you choose?
